Kids Workshops are themed classes that focus on executive functioning skills. Each class begins with setting a goal (visualize) and then utilizes strategies to achieve the goal. The session ends with closing discussion of the strategies and how they can use them in their daily lives. Each class is tailored to the interests and needs of students.

Executive functioning skills allow us to set goals, plan and get things done. When kids struggle with executive skills, it impacts them in school and in everyday life. The three main areas of executive function are:

  1. Working memory
  2. Flexible Thinking
  3. Inhibitory control

Executive function is responsible for a number of skills, including:

  • Paying attention
  • Organizing, planning and prioritizing
  • Starting tasks and staying focused on them to completion
  • Understanding different points of view
  • Regulating emotions
  • Self-monitoring
